Maria was the illegitimate child of Margaret Swift and Ralph Anderton. Ralph was brought before the Four Men, or the village elders, who determined that he was the  father of Maria, and therefore liable for her upkeep.
 A legal document was signed by Ralph and Margaret at the Kirkdale assizes, when Ralph admitted he  was the father and agreed to pay weekly.
 Margaret had another child named Henry born in 1836, his father is not known, however he could be  the son of Ralph?
 Maria moved to Ince Blundell, and is found in service during the 1851c, also in service was a  Thomas Blundell who was probably a brother of William Blundell whom Maria married in 1854. Maria and William had 2 children who both died in infancy, both named Sarah, with Maria dying of  fever a few days after her second child.
 William married again to Mary Riley b1833 in Prescot.  They had several children, before Mary died  in 1883 age 50.
 William lived till 1885 and was buried with his second wife and his daughters Sarah and Ann, at  Ince Blundell.
